Phew....2 more weeks!

Well, I'm 38 weeks today. And I'm so very ready!  I wen to the doctor yesterday and am still not dilated at all (boooo!!!!) but am 70% effaced and her head is dropping every week.  So I could either go to my due date or be in labor tomorrow.  Gee, thanks Doc.  That's helpful.
A little addition to Baby Girl's nursery.  I am in love with these!  Feminine but not too girly :)

I made Philip take this picture at the Auburn vs. Georgia game.  Just so I could remember that at almost 35 weeks pregnant, I tailgated all day then sat through a football game.
Go me.

Sunday, November 11th my sorority sisters from college got together at Amsterdam and had a little shower for me.  It was so great to see everyone!  I could have sat and talked to them for hours!

The next weekend, I traveled down to Seaside for my cousin Sarah's wedding.  I was an "honorary bridesmaid" since I wasn't sure if I'd even be able to make it to the wedding.  But I did and had a blast and totally wore myself out!

Me and my beautiful cousin, Sarah.

36 weeks (11/20)

Due to Baby Girl's pending arrival, we stayed home this year for Thanksgiving.  We drove to Atlanta for the day on Thanksgiving but spent the rest of the weekend here.  We VERY MUCH missed being at the beach but I think Philip enjoyed being home for a few days with nothing to do.  Friday after Thanksgiving, we drove over to campus and took Charlie for his morning walk.  He loved it.
37 weeks (11/27)

Saturday night was our 4th annual 'Twas the Night Before Christmas party.  Usually we have it at our house but I graciously handed the reigns over to Pam this year.  It's a pajama themed party and Philip finally got to wear his union suit that my mom got him for Christmas last year.

This past weekend I think I over-did it again.  This was Sunday night after going non-stop since 6am Friday :)  All 3 of us were pooped!

Today, 38 weeks.

6 weeks left!

Well, I am 34 weeks today.  I can't believe Baby Girl will be here in 6(ish) weeks!  I went to the doctor last week and we kind of started talking about her arrival.
I go back next Tuesday (at 35 weeks) and he's going to check me for the first time because I'm heading down tot the beach next weekend for a wedding and he wants to make sure everything is ok.  Part of me hopes there is a little bit of progress but I don't want there to be too much because I really, really want to go to my cousins wedding!  After next week's appointment, I'll go every week.  Crazy!

3rd and Final

Well, I'm officially in my 3rd and final trimester.  Holy hell, how did that happen???  As if it wasn't already going by at warp speed, I know it's only going to get faster.  Here I am at 28 weeks (9/25).
This past Sunday, my family had a little shower for us up in Birmingham.  We go tons of great stuff and were a little worried it wasn't all going to fit in the car!  As you can tell, we coudn't see out the back window :)
Philip took this pic last night.  Maybe Charlie will love his baby sister after all.  He doesn't have the best attitude when it comes to small children but hopefully once he realizes that she isn't leaving, he'll get over it...

Coming to a close

My second trimester is coming to a close.  I am 27 weeks today.  December is approaching fast and the thought scares the crap out of me:)

Here are some pics from the last few weeks.  I still feel great and really can't complain.  We have our first shower this Sunday.  I'm excited to start getting goodies for Baby Girl.

The beginings of baby girls nursery.

We still have a lot to do to the nursery but I was so glad to get the bed skirt and cushion back from the upholstry guy so I could really see how it was going to look.  We are really happy with how it turned out!  Now it's the little details, which to me are the hardest part :-)

Update

As of yesterday, I am 14 weeks.  Which means I'm out of the first trimester:)  That seems totally crazy to me.

I've, of course, neglected to post on the blog about this (or anything really).  I'm afraid if I don't, I'll be mad at myself one day that I didn't at least somewhat keep track of this pregnancy.

How I've Felt: Suprisingly good!  I never got sick (hooray).  Just a few waves of nausea here and there.  My boobs have been sore as hell though!  I was pretty tired there for a while but last week and this week my energy level seems to be coming back.  I've had some pretty bad headaches as well.

Cravings: Cheese, in all forms.  Just thinking about it makes me want to go down to the mexican restaurant and order a large queso:)  Sweets - which is very unusual for me.

Books I've Read: Belly Laughs by Jenny McCarthy; Bringing up Bebe by Pamela Drukerman; skimmed through What to Expect.  But that book totally freaks me out.  It's so overly cautious about everything.  "Don't eat              because 1 out of 1 million pregnant women got (insert crazy sickness)".  Give me a break and tell me the sh&t I really need to know people!

Things of Note: We have recently found out that two of Philip's PA School classmates are also pregnant and due about 3 weeks before me.

Not yet in maternity clothes.  And I'm trying to hold out as long as I can!  I have a feeling that jeans will be my first purchase.  My regular ones are starting to get a little tight.

At my doctors appointment last Thursday, the baby's heart rate was 160 bpm.  He said everything sounded good.

We find out the gender on July 11th.  I'm ready to know!  I wish I was cool enough to wait but I'm just not.  At this point, I have no feeling either way.  If you read all the symptom indicators, I'm about 50/50.  So who the hell knows...

I've still been working out.  Not as much or as hard as I did before but trying to get to the gym at least 3-4 times a week.  I'm still running but either on the treadmill or in the mornings.  It's too hot after work to run outside.  We are running the Peachtree Road Race (10k) on July 4th.  I will be 16 weeks.  Should be interesting.

Here's the belly shot at 14 weeks.  It's barely there but you can see it.  In regular clothes, it's not as obvious.

And can we please talk about how awkward it is to take a picture of yourself in a mirror???  What a strange little thing.  I look like a freak every time.

Something extra...

Written on 5/5/12:

Looks like we brought back something extra from Italy!!!

That's right folks, we're preggers!  I found out on Wednesday, April 11.  I took a pregnancy test the Sunday after we got back from Italy and it was negative.  No big deal.  We joke about getting pregnant in Italy but seriously, who gets pregnant that fast???  Apparently we do.

Fast forward a week to the 11th. Me and Philip were finishing up a run & bike on some nearby trails. For some reason, I had this nagging thought that I should take another pregnancy test, even though the one the week before had been negatigve. While we were cooking dinner, Philip said he was going to open a bottle of wine. I said, "let me just take a test before you do, just to be sure." Two mintues later and BAM!

To say we were shocked would be an understatement!  I made Philip ride with me to CVS to get more tests because I was so surprised.  One more test that night and another one two days later and I think I finally started believing that I was pregnant.

I had my first doctors appointment on Monday, April 16.  They confirmed that I was, in fact, pregnant and set up an ultrasound for May 2.

We told our parents pretty much right away.  They were tickled to say the least.  We told a few friends right away but that's only because if you see me at dinner without a glass of wine, it's pretty obvious something's up :)

I went to the doctor on May 2nd for my first ultrasound.  What a strange but exciting thing.  We got confirmation on how far along I am and the due date.  So as of my appointment, I was 7 weeks and 1 day.  Due date is December 18, 2012!

First Belly Shot: 7 weeks, 2 days.

Well, well, well

I haven't posted anything since September.  What can I say.  Life gets busy.  I am not even going to attempt to go back and catch up, that would be impossible.  Two big things we've done lately were running two marathons in about a month and taking a two week trip to Italy.

The first marathon we did was Mercedes in Birmingham.  We did it as a "training run" for Italy and ended up running what will probably be the best marathon of my life.  3:54.  Where in the hell that came from, I'll never know!

 Official chip time: 3:54 :)

A month later we packed our bags and headed to Italy to run the Maratona di Roma.  We got there on a Friday, raced on Sunday and spent the rest of the two weeks eating & drinking our way through Italy.  I can't even begin to describe how amazing it was!  If you're friends with Philip on Facebook, you can check out our pics.  Two albums full of the best two weeks of our life!

Since coming home, we've tried to keep things under control and rest a little bit but for whatever reason that's not in our DNA.  April 21st we ran the Finish on the 50 10k here in Auburn.  As you can probably tell, you finished the race on the 50 yard line in the stadium.  I'd have to say it was pretty cool.  Philip ran a super fast 43 minutes and I got a PR, 49:19!  It was hot as hell and there was only 1 water stop at mile 2.  But somehow I managed not to pass out and run pretty well.

We've got a lot of stuff coming up in the next few weeks.  Just when I think we might slow down a bit, life seems to get busier than ever.
