Memorial Day Fun!

We had a great, relaxing Memorial Day weekend at the lake with Tony, Britney, Nick & Elmer. We got up to Smith Lake about 6 on Friday evening and stayed until Monday afternoon. It was so nice not having anything to do but relax and take some nice, long rides on the boat! We didn't even have cell phone service, which can definitely be a good thing every once in a while. Charlie was glad to get to hang out with his girlfriends, Molly & Gabby, all weekend. Here's a pic of what 4 days at the lake, swimming, riding on the boat and 2 very energetic dogs will do to our little pup!

And the Winner Is....

I had a run-in last night with the sidewalk and I lost. I had just run past my old college house when all of a sudden I find myself lying on my side. I have no idea how it happened....I guess I was deep in thought remembering all the good times at 321 E. Samford! Luckily the Conocco (it's a BP now, but it will always be Concocco to me) was right there and I was able to go in and wash myself up. Unfortunately, I was only halfway through my run so I had to soldier on! I think only about 1oo people got a good laugh at my expense....

Ben & Lindsey's Wedding

Fun in the Ham!

Well, we had a great weekend! Friday night we stayed in Auburn and hit up our weekly (or more) spot, Amsterdam's. The waitress actually said "Hey, I think I've waited on you a couple of times!" and there is no doubt in our minds that she probably has:)

Saturday morning we got up early to head to Birmingham for DoDah Day and a wedding that night. DoDah Day was fun as usual. Charlie and his girlfriends, Gabby & Molly, enjoyed watching the parade and eating TONS of treats! Charlie also got a gift from his girlfriends that was waiting for him in "our room" at Britney's house. They wrote him a sweet note and had a bone for him. He does love his ladies!

That night we had a wedding for one of Philip's brother, Brian's, friends. It was so much fun! The reception was at Workplay, which I had never been to so I was excited about going. Ben & Lindsey looked so happy and she was one of the prettiest brides I have ever seen!

Sunday we got up and said bye to Tony & Britney so we could meet up with Brian, Ellen & The Hake's for lunch at Jackson's (one of our Birmingham favs!). Then we shopped around the Summit for a little bit and headed home. Oh, first we had to meet my parents in Prattville to swap cars (mine had been in Greenville getting new tires- yippee!), then we headed home.

By the time we got home last night we were exhausted. We rented a movie and picked up some dinner from our fav chinese takeout place and went to bed about 8:30!

On a side note: Today I went home for lunch so excited about some leftover chicken fried rice. When trying to get it out of the kitchen, I somehow lost my grip on the container and dropped every bit of the chicken fried rice on the floor, along with Philip's leftover sesame chicken!!! I was so mad! I also got it on my pants so I had to change my pants and attempt to clean up a billion tiny pieces of rice, carrot & peas. What a great Monday....

We are looking forward to going to the lake this weekend and relaxing!

Week of Rest

So it's been a pretty uneventful week for the Hake's. This past weekend we were actually at home for the first time in a few weeks, it was so nice! We went to a nice dinner just the two of us Friday night then on Saturday we met my parents in Montgomery for dinner. Sunday, we didn't have any mothers in town so we visited First Baptist Church Opelika and ate lunch at Moe's:) It was a very low key weekend, which we really needed!

Oh, we did both get new cell phones this week. We officially look super cool with our Blackberrys. Yep, that is seriously the most exciting thing we've done this week. But it's been nice hanging around the house and getting some rest.

I'm looking forward to this weekend. Saturday we're heading up to Birmingham to hang out with Tony & Britney and go to a wedding. I can already taste my southwest quesadilla from Rojo:)

Hope all the mom's out there had a great Mother's Day!

Ho hum...Hump Day!

It has been a pretty uneventful week so far. An update on the loft...they are finishing up the electrical stuff and HVAC this week. Should begin on the insulation, drywall and trim next week! Just thought I might post the few pictures we took this weekend.
Zoom! Zoom! This is at the Criterium Saturday night.

Feliz Cinco de Mayo!

It was another busy weekend for the Hakes! Saturday morning we got up early and drove up to Birmingham to run a few earrands- mainly get us both some new running shoes- before I had to be at a baby shower for Kea. Philip was happy because we were also able to grab a bite for lunch at Jackson's. I left him & Charlie in downtown Homewood to wait for his parents to pick them up and I headed down to Greystone for the shower. It was a lot of fun! Kea got a ton of great stuff for Kylie! I took my camera with high expectations but of course, took not one single picture!

After the shower, I headed over to Anniston to meet up with Philip and his parents. Philip and his dad did a bike ride on Sunday called the Cheaha Challenge up in Piedmont, AL (about 25 min north of Anniston). I can honestly say I have been somewhere I never knew existed! When I got to Anniston on Saturday, we ate dinner and went to downtown Anniston where they were having the Noble Street Festival along with a Criterium. That's a very short bike race- they rode a .7 mile loop in downtown Anniston 70 times. They were going so fast that if you stood still, the bikers made a strong breeze as they rode by. It was pretty neat!

Sunday morning Philip and his did got up bright & early to head up to Piedmont for the bike race. Me and his mom headed up a little later on in the morning and waited for them to finish. Philip rode 50 miles up to Mt. Cheaha! I was very proud of him! Brian (Philip's bro) and his wife, Ellen came over from Atlanta for a little while to see them too!

When we finally got home last night we were both exhausted! Even Charlie was pooped! (We drug him around with us all weekend, as usual) Hopefully, this weekend we'll be able to stay home and relax!
